Facilitator Profile

Jamie Merriam, P. Eng., FS Expert

Jamie is a seasoned professional engineer with a diverse background in functional safety and safety instrumented systems. With over 30 years of experience, he has worked on projects across various industries, including oil and gas, chemical manufacturing, pulp and paper, and power generation. Jamie’s expertise lies in conducting risk assessments and analyzing Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) to ensure the safety and reliability of complex facilities. He has worked on numerous projects involving the development and implementation of safety standards, including IEC 61508 and IEC 61511. 

Jamie is also an accomplished trainer and facilitator, having conducted numerous training sessions on a range of topics including Process Hazards Analysis (PHA), reading Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and even the certification of Functional Safety Engineers (FS Eng) through his status as Functional Safety Expert (FS Expert). He has a talent for breaking down complex technical concepts into simple terms that are easy for others to understand.
